PWA will be inducting into the Hall Of Fame, the first family of wrestling, the HARTS! With Stampede Wrestling, the Hart family established a legacy in professional wrestling that no other independent company will ever achieve. Stu Hart, the patriarch of the Hart family and the driving force behind Stampede Wrestling was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame this year. PWA was created after being inspired by Stampede Wrestling and has been endorsed by members of the Hart family to continue the tradition of family orientated sports entertainment. This is PWA and the fan’s opportunity to thank the Hart family for their inspiration, trail blazing and over 40 years of contribution to the professional wrestling business.

Joining the Harts in this year’s Hall Of Fame induction will be the only wrestler to hold all 4 PWA titles former PWA Champion, Phoenix Taylor. Phoenix’s contributions in and out of the ring have been a driving force and a big reason for PWA’s current success and longevity. More inductees will be announced in the next few weeks.

In other action, Johnny Devine defeated “T-Bone” Jack Sloan and Apoc in a triple threat match that will have major implications on the PWA Heavyweight Title scene as we move towards Night of Champions.

Thanks to an unseen assist from Dylan Knight, Ravenous Randy was able to advance to the finals of the Mayhem Tournament by defeating Camikaze with the Chili Cheese Driver. Randy will now face an extremely tough challenge in his quest to regain the Mayhem Title, as he squares off with Chris Steele in a Steel Cage Match on Saturday, May 15!

Scotley Crue and Bobby Sharp continued to impress as a tag team, defeating the duo of Brady Roberts and M. With their allegiance with Strife and Dr. Kyoto, the quartet is slowly building steam as a formidable stable that could be on the verge of making major waves here in the PWA.

Dylan Knight continued his impressive run in PWA with a victory over Evan Adams. That combined with his involvement in the lumberjack match later in the night has let the PWA fans know that Knight is not content to sit in the background, and is here to make an impact.

Chucky Blaze was able to ward off a strong showing by “Hollywood” Dusty Adonis, who has been showing a much more aggressive, hard-nosed approach to his in ring affairs than in years previous. Nonetheless, Blaze managed to hit the Omega Driver to retain his PWA Cruiserweight Championship.

Alex Plexis seems to be making a strong case to be Blaze’s next challenger, after an impressive victory over Andrew Hawkes. Plexis took command of the microphone after the match and issued a challenge to Blaze, letting the Cruiserweight Champion know his days as champion were numbered.

In a testament to their professionalism and desire to compete in front of the PWA faithful, the three made it back to Calgary in time for the show, but naturally they were kept off the show as a precautionary measure. Deryck Crosse and PWA newcomer Andy “The Dreadful” Bird filled in to help the PWA deliver a dynamite show in their absence.

The reality of independent wrestling is that it can be a very harsh business, with bookings spanning the country in the same weekend. So the next time you watch your favourite PWA superstars step into the ring, remember that they don’t just risk their safety in the ring, sometimes they’re putting their life on the line just to get to the show.

But despite the referee being knocked unconscious, despite “T-Bone” Jack Sloan’s shenanigans, the 5 time WCW Champion emerged triumphant, snaring the PWA Championship. Added to his World Title reign in WWE, Booker T celebrated with the PWA faithful as he became, in his own words, the “7 time! 7 time! 7 time! 7 time! 7 time! 7 time! 7 time!” Heavyweight Champion.

Certainly, the title win puts the PWA into a state of flux. Lance Storm revealed on StormWrestling.com that in order for Booker to receive a title shot, he had to agree to return to defend the title if he won, but as of press time we at PWAwrestling.ca are unaware of any set title defenses. That being said, it looks unlikely that the PWA Heavyweight Championship will be contested for at Apocalypse this Saturday in Calgary, though rumours are abound that Booker will return at PWA’s biggest show of the year, Night of Champions.

With this exciting development, it leaves much in question. T-Bone Jack Sloan is a champion that, for the time being, is denied his opportunity to invoke his rematch clause. How 2009’s Breakout Star will react to such a reality is anybody’s guess, but knowing Sloan’s temperament, the results aren’t likely to be good for anybody else on the PWA roster.
